About

The Universal Cup and its mission to connect the global programming community.

The Universal Cup

The Universal Cup (UCup) is a global competitive programming contest series that connects algorithmic programming communities worldwide. Established to support training and excellence at all levels, the UCup provides a platform for teams to compete, learn, and grow together.

Since its inception, the Universal Cup has emphasized inclusivity, bringing together participants from diverse backgrounds and regions. With over 500 teams participating in Season 3 alone, the UCup has become one of the most significant competitive programming events outside of the ICPC system.

Season 3

Season 3 of the Universal Cup featured more than 40 online training stages, where teams from around the world competed in weekly algorithmic challenges. These stages served as both training opportunities and qualification rounds for the semifinals and ultimately the Finals.

The semifinals were held to determine the final roster of teams that would compete at the on-site Finals in Shanghai. Combined with contributor and bonus quota spots, a total of 23 teams have been invited to the grand finale.

The Finals

The 2026 Universal Cup Finals represents the pinnacle of Season 3. Held at the Huawei Shanghai Lianqiu Lake Research and Development Center, this event brings together the best competitive programmers for an intense week of competition, collaboration, and community.

The Finals feature not only the main contest but also social events, challenge rounds, conferences, and an award ceremony — creating a comprehensive experience that celebrates algorithmic excellence.

Organization

The Universal Cup is organized by a dedicated team of competitive programming enthusiasts and governed by the Universal Cup Scientific Committee. The committee is responsible for problem selection, rule enforcement, and ensuring the highest standards of fairness and quality.

The 2026 Finals are made possible through the generous support of our sponsors, with Huawei serving as the title sponsor and host venue provider.
